Tips for Promoting Your READ from the START Program

Personally invite parents to attend. A friendly verbal invitation is MOST effective!

Post the READ from the START flyers announcing the dates/times of your program. Create a display in an area where your parents will see it often. Display the books that will be used if possible. Be on hand to answer questions or encourage parents to register.

Consider using your local newspaper or your organization’s newsletter to publicize your RFTS program.

Contact other agencies/organizations (PAT, Head Start, daycare centers, churches) in your community and extend an invitation to their parents. If you need assistance with finding the right person to contact, give me a call and I can help.

When a parent signs up, ask if there might be a friend or family member who would also be interested in attending. Mention openings when you contact parents to remind them of the RFTS program.

REMIND parents a day or two before the program that you are looking forward to seeing them at READ from the START.

Is your site providing childcare and/or refreshments? What parent can resist a few hours of relaxing with other adults, having a snack or dinner, while having fun and learning?
